Sup
Probably ridiculous but does anyone know anything to boost internet speeds when your capped? Even slightly.
I'm on a telstra bigpond 25G standard liberty cable connection.
It's so very annoying having an internet connection as bad as / worse than dial-up.

i experience the same as you
im with Optus i have "unlimited" cable

but when im capped i dl at like 1kbps
they cap you hard
its so bad

shit thing with craptus and bigpoo is they count uploads as well.. so 20GB would probably end up being ~15GB if you use torrents alot...
My serious suggestion is switch ISPs. Bigpond overcharge through the arse and people eat it all up because you get 5% off your bills when you go with telstra for everything... little do you know they make like 10% more off you than other companies even with the discount.
It may be an inconvenience to pay 2 bills, but netspace is a fuckload cheaper than most others... Im with 'node and im getting ripped a new one... $149/month for 80gb. Even 12GB with bigpuddle is $59... then 20gb for $79? fuck that.

I'm on 12GB Cable... it's enough every month, never been capped until last month, first one ever. And by accident, if I need anything that bad, I just get it on the last day of the months billing.
But the thing is, I can get enough shit at each reSpawn that lasts me till the next and beyond so I don't need to download anything. You guys must get bored real easy! lol!

Apparently some new isp is coming out that offers unlimited downloads.
The difference is you have to pay for anything extra, like tech support etc.. so good luck if you have a line fault

Hotkey, 8Mb/s 12GB for $60/month. NEED MOAR DOWNLOAD LIMIT. =(
Not sure if we get capped or charged for going over though. We went over a last month, and we got $30 overcharged. Dad still thinks we get shaped.

What a rip, I'm paying $70 for 24mbit, 150gb per month quota, uploads not counted, shaped after capped

Yeah, don't tell me about it. I realise we're being ripped. But it's Dad's connection, not mine. And the local ISP rep is a client of Dad's... so ... you know... >.<
And as of tomorrow, I'll be on a 5GB/month Vodafone 3G connection. This is gonna suck [probably]. *sigh*

we had 60gig telstra cable, but when you have a rapidshare account i'd prefer to be capped than pay overages.
we got a $700 bill once, 15c/MB is really uncool.
now we're on TPG 200gb and everything is much better

Best thing to do is to change your MTU settings in modem/router.
Basically what you do is login to your modem/router by typing its IP into web browser (mine is 192.168.0.1), logon details should usually be at the bottom of the modem/router. In my case my login is Admin and password is whatever is set it to
Then have a good look around everywhere in the settings for MTU, and change that to 576 (usually works), default should be 1500
cheers,
Minski

Makes sense. All the packets in an Australian>American internet link routes through the cables between Sydney and Los Angeles.
So if you're in Sydney, your delicious data has less distance to travel.

If you've changed it, factory reset the modem and the default user/pass will work.
If you don't know what the default is, download your modems manual.
Protip: Don't get shaped.
