I've been in a Minecraft lull lately, there was an Australian based server that I used to frequent that has been down for a few weeks now. But when you get used to the server mods, and realise that it's people like Hey0 making SMP playable, it's hard to play on the vanilla server. Have a look at hmod, and the different plugins for it, definitely worthwhile. I'd be all for a Respawn Minecraft server too, but those things chew through downloads, and are bandwidth-intensive. Notch really needs to get his act together. Don't forget the pics orbit! PS - http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.ph...014&t=24510 <-- The other MC server I go on, the aussie one. It's been down for a while, but hopefully should be up again in the next few days. |

QUOTE (Lord Infamous @ Oct 9 2010, 04:00 AM) QUOTE (Maelstrom @ Oct 9 2010, 12:14 AM) Squid fiddle sounds wrong somehow...
Anyway, I notice the lack of Sunday funcomps too. Any particular reason? If it's lack of volunteers, I can offer my services since I usually stick around till Sunday anyway. Where were you Hiding I think I went to the farmer's market on Sunday But no-one actually asked me either. I guess I could have initiated some games and announced them up the front, but anyone can do that, right? |

QUOTE (Sando @ Nov 11 2010, 03:15 PM) That's more than enough discussion on DC++ guys. Any further posts on the matter will be deleted. Damn, too late to post my opinion. I reckon for coordinating games (especially for those too lazy to go up the front), IRC is the best tool. There's a server running every respawn (afaik), the only problem is the initial setup. But I believe there was talk of a web-client being put up on the intranet at some point? |

Most of the games in the OP suck Worms reloaded could be fun, and I think Plain Sight will be working at respawn too. What I think we really need is Minecraft SMP though. Umm, do people play Minecraft? |

Nothing better than the head admin promising players things before asking you about them :S |

QUOTE (Worthless @ Jul 17 2010, 01:42 PM) Microwave is not that big of an issue. We have a small 40 player LAN in Bendigo with open access to a microwave for the whole weekend and it is hardly ever left messy. Keep paper towels by it and instruct people to clean up their own mess.
Hopefully they appreciate the use of it so much that they are happy to clean up mess they make. I'd like to believe you but... Apply that logic to the men's toilets at respawn and extrapolate. |

QUOTE (Shadyone @ Jul 7 2010, 01:06 PM) QUOTE (Maelstrom @ Jul 7 2010, 11:30 AM) Majora's Mask was the best, but as usual, the diehard OOT fans leave out anything too challenging for them. It was late and I was just thinking of some popular one's and LoZ-MM was crap, only thing good about it is the transformation masks (yea go deity link!). I suppose I shouldn't really be arguing with a kid, but what about it in particular was crap? |

QUOTE (Rangers @ Jul 6 2010, 10:23 PM) - snip - Also new headphones fair enough but if you want to 'cancel noise' please make sure to actually buy 'noise cancelling' headphones. I would also like to say that i don't know the people you were talking about in your post but it really gets to me when people just can't get along. Being over 30 you should have learnt to tolerate things and idiots by now. that is all You realise that noise cancelling headphones are only for constant background noise right? For example, the hum of 400 computers' fans going at top speed. Unless the people yelling penis were doing it non-stop, I don't think it would have helped. Especially if he was right next to them. QUOTE (Autofix @ Jul 6 2010, 10:24 PM) QUOTE (That Commander @ Jul 6 2010, 09:41 PM) I do have two suggestions however FirstThe Respawn Notifier is a great idea, but perhaps what players also need is a similar system to advertise that they are running a particular game server. I read in this thread that that gamers had to walk around to see what other people were playing. For example, if I were to run an Unreal Tournament server, but don't want to sit in the lobby waiting for someone to join, it would be good to be notified that people want to join it, but until I get a notification I can go about other things. On the flip side, people register their interest in particular games and are notified that a server is running so they can join. Does this make sense? Would you find this useful? A sort of game lobby/notifier so people know what's being played (besides CS). I believe the current method is to announce over DC and hope it is noticed between the constant stream of nonsense and policy speeches by "Julia Gillard (PM)". /agree. Maybe something like steam friends but without the steam, or the friends, just individual channels for each game that alerts you when people start playing a game from that channel you are in, and allows you to chat to other people in that channel. How about... IRC? It has channels and everything! People could pay attention to it for announcements and notifications of who was playing what, and could even make separate rooms for their friends or people they're playing with. There is a small learning curve there, and people have to install the software. But I believe it was mentioned a while back that a browser-based client might be able to be implemented on the intranet site. |

QUOTE (Glasseater @ Jul 5 2010, 05:22 PM) ...
i also found even walking around seeing what ppl are playing then joining in with that works just gotta get out there. This might be an idea. Have an admin or a gopher wander around and report on what people are playing over Notify or the PA. There's always the option too for people to start a server (or request an admin to start a server) and ask over PA if anyone else wants to play. QUOTE (xargon @ Jul 5 2010, 05:27 PM) was a really good lan, apart from steam not working no real issues here. thx guys. Start in offline mode, and try to get online later on in the evening when no-one else is trying. Too many people trying to authenticate at the same time. |
