QUOTE (beeslol @ Apr 23 2012, 01:25 AM) I guess the more people you get the more detailed your strategies and tactics can be, but totes more then 3 per side. Yeah I'd imagine it'd be pretty bloody fun with like 10v10 or more. I guess that 4 pack would help sell copies too, but i wouldnt be playing it at lan unless we could get a large number of ppl playing lol |

QUOTE (digitall @ Apr 19 2012, 11:01 PM) What are you going to be using them for? Been making plans to try some mod/artwork-type projects, however I only have a single old mouse in my house atm, as someone cleared out my others ;( Hence why I'm asking the awesome respawn community I figure I need to test a variety of different methods on the mice, to see how they differ in results. (I.e; what type of paint is best, how well it will dry, if it stays on the surface, how thick the coats should be, etc..) Not to mention actually using them in the project(s) That a sufficient answer? |

I was wondering if anybody had some mice that are either faulty or just unwanted. (And thus were happy to part with them for nothing but a smile ) They don't have to be working, although their body needs to be un-broken. Its a weird request, I know, but theres no harm in asking? (Yet?) I may exchange cans of lemonade for them at v24. Emphasis on the 'may'. |

QUOTE (PaintTheStreetsInWhite @ Apr 19 2011, 02:42 PM) Not many people played CS GG Wasn't the GG mod like screwed? I played it once or twice (and then my mate played it for a few hours total on my pc as me), but realised that there weren't knives, the GG was won if someone got a nade kill, and it didn't immediately swap maps after the game was won :s ? Not to mention, me and my mate were laughing so much at lee and queeny raging. We were like a row away so we heard it alot..... Was surprised how long it went on for tho. QUOTE (Jeffy @ Apr 20 2011, 06:13 PM) -Hotdogs: Sadly our hotdog machine became incontienent and wet its pants all over its power board. So for safety and to protect the players, it was decided to abandon the hotdogs. We apologise for that and I have an action item to resolve this for the next event given the huge popularity for the hot dawgs.
-BBQ: Can you tell me if it was the midnight or morning BBQ? This concerns me greatly and I'd really like to know more so I can go back to the core admin team with information and an action plan to resolve this one. Ahh ok, thats a pity about the hotdogs, was really craving one at around 2am Yeah, it was the first one, the midnight one. I ended up not wanting to risk the morning BBQ, so I didn't bother with it. Perhaps the snags were left out too long or something? I dno, I'm no food expert, I just eat the stuff. xD |

QUOTE (mae @ Apr 18 2011, 08:50 PM) Looking forward to these too (: Haha, yeah. I pulled one or two randy shots, so it'd be cool to see these too. The Deviation v Pizz match on nuke was pretty heated, was a good, solid match imo. Well played by all, and I'm always happy to lose in OT Squidy! The champion of CS servers |

QUOTE (orbit @ Apr 18 2011, 02:20 PM) Tetris DS (A simple multiplayer puzzle game for the Nintendo DS)
Armagetron (Tron Light Cycle game)
Minecraft (Sandbox building/exploring game (not a comp just going to have a server up))
Quake 3 Team arena DM FFA (Fast paced FPS - WARNING very competitive)
Unreal Tournament 2004 4way CTF (facing worlds 4 way)
Counter Strike Source GG (FPS - There is usually a full comp of this but a fun comp is always welcome as well) These all sound good: - Instead of Tetris DS, maybe find like a LAN Tetris game... I know there are a few online ones where you can play 10 other people at once and clearing levels causes other people to get people more blocks etc... Not entirely sure if there is a LAN version, but this would be epic, almost worthy of a full-time Fun Comp position on the schedule if you could get this up and running. - Did I miss this this past event? Everybody loves Tron, should never be missed again! Edit~ Looks like I did miss it in the morning. Probably when I put my head down for a slight nap, DAMN - MC is just fun in general, a well-defined comp could probably attract a few people i reckon. - Quake 3; I was playing this at the last one, for the comp, but my pc shat itself literally a minute after the comp started, so i missed out Great game tho, I loved what i played of it. Extremely fast paced. - UT 2k4; Classic. Thumbs up. - CSS: GG. Yeah, I do need some way to get myself a prize ;P |

hehehe, but the respawn teamspeak server reached it limit, alioth ... We were going to start the cs comp when it went to begin and it was full so we had to move to mumble. Pros:- The comps WERE held regardless of Steam's problems. - The amount of door prizes was better than recent LANs i've attended... I encourage more of this as 1 prize between 400 people isn't something for most of us to get hyped up about. - Sitting near friendly people who are all up for a chat - Making new LAN friends, due to the reason above. - Playing quake3 for the first time... Pity my pc decided to freeze when the actual comp started, but it was pretty fun - Admins were helpful and nice, as always Thanks, Sando for the fixing of a teammates Steam, Deadman for the organising of the cs comp, and Sirsquid for the changing of server settings for me and my team :3 You guys were awesome <3 - Catching up with peeps from online Cons:- The comps were later than originally planned, however luckily for me, they didnt overlap/clash with another event that i might have wanted to play. - Definately not my taste in music. Keeping both sides of the argument in mind, I agree, it would be pretty quiet and not the same atmosphere if there wasn't music, and I agree that its hard to choose appropriate music for 400 people, BUT choosing techno music is a very specific genre which people will and will not like. Personally, I was getting totally annoyed by the music after the first few hours cause it all sounded the same. Perhaps music pulled from some games? I disagree with the comment about "pop music" above, cause well personally it'd probably make me actually get up and leave,.... I can't stand listening to it for more than an hour straight.... Its a very hard thing to choose music for, and I'm not entirely sure on this topic. - The arguments, things that ruin the mood. Although, somewhat funny to start with, they are also pretty sad. Sure, I do sorta laugh when I see someone on WoW at a lan... but still, at least they're playing games, unlike those who actually show up to purely leech and not even open a game (I saw a few of these at the lan and was pretty annoyed). Had both the aforementioned arguments crop up behind me at the LAN so its not easy to ignore. PROPS TO SANDO FOR BREAKING IT UP . - As said above, those who come to purely leech. Should be recorded and refused to future events in preference to the actual gamers. (Would be nice to have, however I know how futile this idea is) - Lack of hotdogs? I was told they didnt have any left >:( so I settled with a Steak & Cheese Pie (<3) - THE very bad man WHO THREW A JAM DONUT IN THE MORNING.... IT WENT ALL OVER THE TABLE, MASSIVE BLOB OF JAM ON MY MOUSE PAD (IT SOAKED IN) AND SOMEHOW MANAGED TO MISS THE REST OF MY SETUP (SPLATTER LANDED ON THE EXACT OPPOSITE SIDE OF MY CASE AND SOMEHOW MY OTHER STUFF WAS CLEAN) REGARDLESS, IT WENT ALL OVER MY TOP WHICH I HAD PUT DOWN LIKE 2 MINUTES BEFORE HAND ON MY CHAIR. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS AT ALL! (Excuse the caps + swearing, but this was truely an act committed by a selfish loser who doesn't give a shit about anybody else)Edited out naughty words - Jeffy- The first sausage sizzle.... I like the concept, but I spoke to probably 5 different people, who all confirmed my suspicions that they weren't cooked properly. Everybody I asked (with the exception of the 6th one) said they had gotten a stomach ache, and that they HAD eatten a sausage. The 6th person HADN'T eatten a sausage and didnt get a stomach ache. - The loudness of the music. I know it was meant to be background music, but I could hear it pretty well. More so, it seemed ever present when I was actually ingame trying to listen to footsteps, lol. ~EDIT OH, forgot these ones: Pros: - Having the chance to see these so called "Pro-gamers" play if its relevant to the games I play. Cons: - Having poloshirt wearing teams playing and yelling so loud at the event, and then sticking to themselves and not participating with the LAN in anyway possible. As someone said above. I totally think they should go into the Odeon or whatever it's called if they want to scream constantly like that. Sure, if they did it even now and then it'd be ok,.... but literally after every round was annoying. Can't you guys say to the people who approach you asking if they can hold the event at respawn, "Yes, you can hold it here, on the conditions that; a) you bring enough prizes for at least 2 competitions / door prizes and the teams who participate will be warned to keep the yelling to a minimum." Sure, you're talking to a big company and all, and it isnt really something they can control, but its something that wouldn't hurt to say because its funny how they're ready to sponsor their events, but they wont contribute a heap to the actual event (how much was on offer as prizes to those two pro teams? A vast amount more than what they contributed, I can tell ya that, especially when what they contributed was offset by the participating teams yelling). The pro players should have tried actually talking to people. I walked past a few times to see like 6/7 guys with iM shirts on in a wide circle just talking amongst themselves before they left. They came across as pretty up-themselves . Regardless, I'd still appreciate these contests a heap more if they wouldnt yell all the time and the like. |

QUOTE (Jeffy @ Apr 6 2011, 08:40 PM) Fairly big. hehehe at the sacrifice of leg-room. i generally bring a rolly-luggage suitcase thing that i can fit my monitor in, just cause it means i can get dump at respawn, and not have to make a 2nd trip to the car and back. thats *roughly* 70cm*50cm*25cm (extremely rough approximation) and it fits fine, however it does leave me with less leg room than i would like, but hey, as i said, sacrifices. |

QUOTE (mast3r_illu5iv @ Nov 22 2010, 08:27 PM) Hi everyone, I'm very new so tell me some things i need to know!
Matt Welcome Matt! I'm guessing u'll be attending v19. You'll love it Some things I recommend bringing; - Computer (no shit right? ) - Power board - Network/Ethernet/Internet cable (whatever terminology floats your boat) [Make sure it's big enough, or else you might have trouble reaching a switch] - Peripherials - Healthy food such as bag o' chips, lollies, M&Ms etc etc ( ) - Healthy drinks such as lemonade or energy drinks [although both of these last 2 dot points are available to purchase at respawn] - Sleeping bag if u plan on sleeping [however i found they make good seat cushions and i've nvr slept at a respawn ] - Pillow [either for your head or your rear-end] - Headset/earphones (speakers are not condoned!) - probably look into some of the forums about DC++ (respawn officially doesn't support the use of this, for legal reasons (and probably moral reasons too), however heaps of ppl use it for file sharing) Also, before attending the event, I recommend you fully update/patch all the games you plan on playing at the lan, to avoid having to find patches/updates on the FTP etc. Oh, and if you're gonna be using steam, login before you leave home, switch it to "Offline mode" then unplug and pack up your PC. Finally, on the day, be sure to have a chat to the people seated around you, as you'll often find a generous and friendly bunch of people who you can game/talk with. Best of luck, +++ |
