Hi all,

So for next time i'm willing to bring in a dancemat and even a projector if room permits for some random ddr fun, doesn't need to be a comp.

Unfortionately the dance mats break easily even though it will be a steel one, so if the admins would be willing to put a deposit up in case of panels getting broken (something like 20 bucks) and if it doesn't get broken everyone's happy smile.gif

How many ppl would be interested in having a go and can we get an admin backing this up? (kitfox i'm looking at u in specific) biggrin.gif

Cheers,
Primoz

Respawn takes no responsibility for the equipment you bring - we're happy for you to bring a dance mat (pending space - space is always very tight, so please check with us closer to the date to see if we can allocate some space), but we can't put down a bond or guarantee it wont get damaged.

Aight I'll prob still bring it just worried about damage so access might be a bit limited. Does anyone else have one so we can have duels?

Posted by: Kitfox Oct 22 2010, 03:02 PM

Lol prim in not an actual admin, i just run the sc stuff n help out deadman wherever i can.

Plus guni is right tongue.gif

P.S: I'm all down for a ddr comp with mat, OR a stepmania comp with your keyboard, but if you break your leg on the dancemat respawn should not be held accountable, so you may have to fill out forms or some shit

No you won't. There is a limit of liability clause in the EMS and when you register (I know many of you scroll down until you see "I AGREE"). But thats where it would apply.

OP: I've never seen anything damaged (I even brought my TV & Wii and they survived JUST fine. You just have to arrange to sit near the DDR matt so you can keep an eye on it. As SirSquid said, space is very tight at the minute so I don't know where you could even set that up...

Out the front.

Posted by: R4N Oct 26 2010, 10:06 AM

The problem with the front near the admin desk, is i am going to hear eurobeat and jpop trash for 36 straight hours.

So no.

The back would be more likely tongue.gif

Thanks R4N for volunteering where to put it, because to be damned if I know where it will go if it's that freaking big! Maybe we can use Zardoz sleeping space for it instead?

Posted by: orbit Nov 23 2010, 05:19 PM

If you are still looking for someone to help organize it I can definatley help.
How long are you wanting to have things set up? also you should keep in mind that some people might not be very... um... plesent to sit next to after a heated DDR off. Maybe if we are going to do it we should do it some time between when it gets cold and when people go to sleep.

If i can get it into a car from Bendigo i can bring my mat just a case of getting it there and back. i would be more than happy to help out with what i can. Do you want to hook it up to your pc with speakers or did you have something else in mind?

Posted by: Prim Nov 24 2010, 11:06 AM

Hey,

Having a 2nd mat would be awesome! i'm just getting mine reinforced now smile.gif

As for setup yes i would have it plugged into computer with speakers, most likely my own, but depending on circumstances i could get it all set up elsewhere.

I agree that ddr and the heat don't mix well, and i somehow don't think people will be very happy during the night when they're trying to sleep. Perhaps in the early morning?

I suppose ppl who want to play should bring a change of clothes or at least deoderant, but they should know that already smile.gif

R4N, u clearly have not heard enough jpop and eurobeat to like it, so we will have to set up near you.

Posted by: caylem00 Nov 24 2010, 11:35 AM

I have two mats for a PC, but they're just mats not reinforced or anything. If you can't find any others I can bring them (I don't really care if they break), plus I still have my stepmania tracks knocking around somewhere - I can bring those, too.

Posted by: orbit Dec 7 2010, 05:59 PM

Due to one awesome person in particular (<3 you peach) my dance mat will be making it to respawn v19. I'm not sure where we can set it up yet as it does take up more than just one PC's space and it will not fit in the isle.

Have you reserved a seat Prim? If so where abouts are you?

As a side note i have managed to get the networked side of this game up and running. If you want to play a networked game there should be a server up at respawn (i still have to get this sorted with a certian Squidlywinks) but if you would like to pre-download/configure the networked stepmania for yourself I will be using version 3.95 (2005 build):
www.orbitoid.net/stepmania/stepmania_orbit.rar
And when we use the dance mats this is my fav version:
http://www.stepmania.com/download.php?file=StepMania4-alpha5.exe

Posted by: Prim Dec 10 2010, 10:50 AM

Yo,

i'm reserved under That_Commander, bottom centre area. I'll bring some usb extensions so we can go a bit further from the walking areas, more appreciated.

I'll download and try that version n stuff, didn't realise you could multiplayer without hotseat - do this support more than two players at a time then? biggrin.gif

Thanks for the support.

Just to reiterate i got 1 mat, its reinforced, tho it does make some noise if stepped on incorretly (usually if use your heel) smile.gif

Posted by: Prim Dec 10 2010, 10:53 AM

hey orbit,

the 2nd link from the stepmania site didn't work. when i click download it says error in header or something. Do i need something installed for it to work?

Posted by: Prim Dec 13 2010, 07:24 AM

Hey guys,

Good to see there was a lot of interest. Will do it again next lan smile.gif

Posted by: Jeffy Dec 13 2010, 07:28 AM

I'll remember to pack the Plasma TV again, even though the damn thing is an epic space hog in my car!

Posted by: Redact Dec 14 2010, 11:39 AM

ddr was amazing, if i didnt have a flu during respawn id have played more than ~10 songs (i was doing the 9 steps tongue.gif and brought over the chairs since im a bar hog normally)

Posted by: Sando Dec 14 2010, 01:32 PM

I'm pretty shit (I can barely do 5 feet songs) but had an awesome time. Would play again.

we good to do this again this lan?
I should be able to get my DDR mat there (I'm yet to ask for help with this). I should be able to get a dedicated box for it also so we dont have to worry about getting everything set up again.
Last time we had a few issues with drivers on windows 7 when we had 2 mats connected, this shouldnt be a problem this time around as the box that i'm using is running xp and the drivers that we have for the mats are xp specific.

If Jeffy can bring his TV that would be ideal. That provides a space (where poker gets played), a screen and a set of speakers (The TV's speakers were loud enough and didnt seem to be too disruptive).

Let me know if you want anything different this time around. There should be many more songs as the box I'm bringing already has a large portion of the packs that i have downloaded over the years.

Any song requests? Best to get this sorted well before the event this time.

Posted by: Prim Mar 8 2011, 09:27 AM

Hey, yeah still good to go. I might have to do some sticky taping to get he broken bits not making a cracking noise but i'll bring either way. It has a xbox adapter i think so should work fine.

DDRei Mix 8th Extreme and any anime mixes ftw smile.gif

Posted by: orbit Mar 8 2011, 11:36 AM

I will have to get the anime mixes again. i wasnt a huge fan so i deleted them i think. Now we just need to make sure that Jeffy can bring the TV again and we should have everything ready.

Posted by: orbit Apr 7 2011, 08:13 PM

Sorry guys i wont be able to make it to Respawn this time around.

Did any DDR get played at Respawn V20?
I have been working on my home DDR box which i was going to bring to V20. I should be able to bring it to V21 to set up for anyone who wants a go.
I have made a very crude list of all the songs that i have on the box. I'm not sure of the quality of all these songs and there is bound to be HEAPS of double ups but i'll attach the list to this post.
It should look like this:

Pack1
___song1
___song2
___song3
Pack2
___song1
ect ect

If there are any video files or animations they will be listed as

Pack1
___song1
_____videofilename1
___song2

Please let me know if you have any songs/packs you want me to add to the list so we can play them at the next Respawn.

 songlist.txt ( 65.76K ) : 5

Sorry for the double post.

You need to save that txt file and open it in word pad or notepad for it to look anything like what I thought it would.

Any requests for songs/song packs to put on the DDR machine?

Hey man, Can you please make sure you have the ddr songs from ALL arcade releases up until ddrx2? May be a huge request, but im a big fan of a large amount of songs from 4th mix onwards all the way until some of the most recent in ddrx-2 from darwin and os-ir-us. If really necessary I can just bring them myself, but you should play them too!

On another note, looking for someone/people to play ddr with at box hill more often, theres no one that usually plays with me there apart from a guy that smokes (plays 2 songs then cant even stand) or the sort of players who don't play anything thats not like anime music. Any takers?

Just making sure you got the x-2 stepfiles lol, I really wanna play kimono princess expert/challenge, chart looks heaps fun

Posted by: orbit Jul 6 2011, 02:05 PM

I shall be getting them tonight.

Is anyone else going to bring a DDR mat this time around? I only have 1 that I can bring. It is HEAPS more fun with 2 mats.

Posted by: Redact Jul 8 2011, 04:49 PM

Posted by: Prim Jul 18 2011, 11:54 AM

Posted by: Prim Sep 9 2011, 04:04 PM

Posted by: Prim Sep 27 2011, 02:51 PM

so yeah we had it running for about 2 hours - with about 4 hours time needed to set it all up. wonder how many people noticed smile.gif

anyway, may need a new mat for next time, this one doesn't like lvl 10+ songs on it smile.gif

Next time we just need to get a TV or a good set of speakers to go with it. It worked well when we had it all set up before the event.
Can anyone loan a TV for next time? it needs at least be bigger than 22" and have speakers that can be heard over all the lanning that is going on around it.

Posted by: Jeffy Oct 2 2011, 06:19 PM

Just make sure you involve the admin crew so they can include it in their event planning.

I can't bring my 50" any-more as it now lives interstate.

Posted by: Prim Jan 7 2012, 07:31 PM

Any admins want to oversee this getting set up? smile.gif

I can bring a dancemat and some speakers.

my dancemat is fine as long as you dont push the buttons too fast (easy lvl 10 songs are ok, but anything more it bombs out).
