Hey guys,

This being my first LAN, I was wondering how it works when I show up at the door? I'm in the top 500 and everything, do I simply state my nickname, pay then I'm free to go in?

What if somebody takes your name and pretends that they are you before you arrive?

Thanks smile.gif

Greetings!

Step 1: Drive to the front area. If you're coming before 11AM, there will very likely still be a line; park in Car Park 2 while you're in line, then bring your car to the front area to unload post-checkin - there is a 15 minute limit on parking out the front of the hall.
Step 2: Wait in line (if there is a line when you get there)
Step 3: Be called up to the desk when you reach the front of the line
Step 4: Recite your name, hand over the money, receive your player tag
Step 5: Find a spot to sit, bring in your PC etc.
Step 6: LAAAAAAAAAAN!

--edit--

I have never heard of anyone taking another's place in such a manner. If someone did do this, when you got to the checkin desk and this was noticed, we'd check your ID/confirm you are who you claim you are, then if we found who stole your spot, we'd evict them from the hall and probably perma-ban them.

The person would also not be able to register for competitions etc without knowing your password for the website.

i would also just like to add;

To speed up the process, please write down how your nickname/username is spelt! Or even better, print it out! Just hand it over to tank and this will make the 'tired tank running on 2 hours sleep attempting to understand what you said in the noise' or the 'you don't actually know what your own username is or how to spell it' problem go away! Thanks!

So this is also my first LAN, a friend of mine and myself are attending it.. though we are #135,136 in the waiting list and confirmed. What are our chances of being able to scavenge a seat?

Since its a massive drive for me (i live in the far west), who can I talk too about getting any kind of solid confirmation or early notification about the availability of the two seats?

Hi Xequte

its very hard to say if the seats are available, last event we got 300 ppl through the doors in the first hour.

what happens is the player shuffle happens a few days before the event, this means that any unconfirmed players in the first 500 get dropped down to the waiting list, and all the confirms get bumped up into the main list.

on the day we will have a player counter on the website and after 2pm whatever seats are left is free game for anyone that rocks up

if you have anything you need to ask please ask

Personally, I'd like to see the confirmation shuffle have a certain date/time. That way, those in the waiting list just outside the 500 could know if they have to take time off work or not, etc.
Is it hard to actually do the shuffle?
If not, you could perhaps do the first one say a week before the event then maybe every day leading up to.

Just a suggestion.

The shuffle that they're talking about is simply anyone that isn't yet confirmed gets bumped down to below the people that are confirmed. Anyone that confirms after the shuffle will usually go straight to the bottom of the confirmed list.

The way the waiting list is looking at the moment then If you're in the top 100 or so on the waiting list then you should get bumped up into the first 500 if you're confirmed.

What time do you think I should arrive? Would 9 AM be too early?

Even if you show up at 9 you won't get in until 10:30
