Guys i find this unneccesary and to be honest, a type of cyber bullying
what you guys have not read up above is that he has tried googling and installing the drivers that they have shown and that they have not worked for him
it has also been quoted now that there is a fault in the acer bluray drives making the blurays inaccessible due to an acer coding error
so please do not mock giarus because he had a valid question and just wanted a straight forward answer...not any mock for something relating to this topic thread

They might have gone a bit too far with the mocking.

But Giarus never stated in the OP what he has tried, only after they told him to google the problem.

Now that that is out of the way... giarus, does the bluray disc detect at all? e.g. does something show up in my computer when you insert a bluray disc?

If so then its most likely a codec issue and youll need to install an appropriate codec, or easier some bluray playing software "cyberlink powerdvd" being an example.

If you can recognise DVD's and not blurays, i am aware that there is a windows update to add native bluray support to win7 if it hasnt been included or updated already.

Something of note also,

How old is the bluray player in the laptop? It *May* need a firmware update, as this was the problem for 90% for people that tried to play AVATAR on bluray.

Bluray uses Flash (afaik) for the menus etc
Flash needs to be updated.

^^ Just some food for thought

There's no free Blu-ray movie players and Windows won't play them by default. Cyberlink PowerDVD will do it, provided you obtain the appropriate version.

Update would not be acer device specific. It depends on the bluray player that is installed in your machine.

If you could get this information from device manager
"Device name" and also "device ID" if you can

It should be a simple process to get you that info smile.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they use Java for that?
