dead_man your a ledgend now im getting the feeling sombodys in my system controllin mah mouse. last night my msn contact list randomly scrolled up and down like sombody was using the scroll wheel... when i did a norton scan it took 15 mins for a intensive scan... does that sound right?

intensive scans should take hours, but i havnt used norton in years though.
run a scan with malwarebytes and see if anything pops up

XP was never made 2 use a usb keyboard in bios or if you are doing a install of xp or installing another os when using a xp then installing a new os u need a ps2 keyboard cause usb keyboards was not made for xp

Kinda thought virus as soon as you said something was taking control of your mouse Also XP fully supports USB keyboards, It just has to detect them like any other USB HID and that takes time. You DO NOT need to have a PS2 keyboard to install XP. Hell I'm pretty damn certain every OS from 98SE to 7 has supported USB keyboards off the bat.

Giarus, that may be due to having USB keyboard support disabled in the bios. Enable that and ANYTHING should be able to use your USB keyboard.
I have installed and maintained XP machines since it was released in 2001, and i have used MANY a USB keyboard to install/configure them.

You could have a bad MB, BIOS, drivers, keyboard, cables, connectors or ports. And since lots of people have had no problem with USB keyboards and XP, it's more likely that it's not the OS.
