Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone has any whizz-bang ideas on how i can jam a 3rd hard drive in my shuttle. There appears to be enough room on top, and there's a spare cable, but no way of securing said hard drive. Are there kits to fit them in that are space efficient, or am i going to have to go down to the shed and 'rig' something up?

(Mary Poppins... because she has that bag that can fit just about anything... mm... yeh...)

securing it would depend on how much you move it around.

if you leave it unsecured just remember to take it out when you transport your case to and from lans.

Or you can secure it using double sided sticky tape, which is great for keeping things attached where there are no screw holes. Daemo's suggestion is good too as your shuttle doesnt move that much except for when you go to Respawn.

3M double sided sticky tape, which I have, is industrial strength and its specifically designed to be able to bond metal together, its used to attach to the car the pieces the bumper bar is welded too.

if you just wedge it in.. eg, a bit on each side and a small bit on the top you shouldnt impact too severly on the poor cooling solution that is 'a shuttle'

where?

she basicaly only has room in a 5 1/4 inch bay..
granted you could custom mount a drive practicaly anywhere (if they cables reach.. and they probably dont due to the prefab of a shuttle)
not to mention the capacity and speed of a 3.5inch drive is much better than a 2.5inch drive

I'm certain three disks are supported in that thing.

There may be holes on the underside of the space where the drive belongs - drives can be secured using either the screws in the side of the screw holes underneath the drive.

.. and here I was thinking I'll hear all about Mary Poppins! She rocks.

Thing that pops to mind is to get a 3.5 - 5.25 mounting tray/slide, and then rivet it to the case (if it will fit), failing that yeah hit the shed and make 4 L shaped clamps, drill them with a hole at either end, then fix them to the case. I know the rivets might not be aesthetically pleasing, but they'll do the job, and you can get burnished/iodised rivets.
