Just thought I'd like to let you guys know what I experienced as my first time as a LAN. [YES, I am damn tired and damn bored thus me doing this... Plus it might be interesting to you or a .... Review of how your first time may have been]
So I started off the day carrying my first ever built PC into the building, after rego'ng my tickets of course but I must mention I was very hesitant to come to Respawn as I had other things planned on the sunday and wasn't sure I'd be someone who would fit in... Also had difficulties getting a ride to the place but was all sorted out with some other people who I had found out that were going to Respawn anyway. I found myself tripping over the damn loose gutter thing in front of the front door, thus leading me practically limping throughout the whole Respawn in pain etc. I was told to dress warm, thus my ugg boots and my fur jacket but was found to not need them in the morning since the PC and the sun had heated the whole hall up anyway. I ended up buying a 10M ethernet cable because the one I bought wasn't long enough to connect to the LAN but it was all good... I didn't realise that LANs would consist of just sitting in your seat, gaming, downloading + going out to eat maccas every few hours though which was definitely a new experience for me.
So one of the most memorable things I would say would me being 'Anonymous' to everyone, it's the same experience with being a female on the net but just so much more exciting... Just knowing that the people who are calling you a man were only sitting a few seats away from you. I did eventually reveal myself but it was just fun anyway to chat to everyone on 'That which shall not be named', which was a completely new program to me which I'd like to thank Ase and Synsync [I don't even remember his username] who helped me set it up. I started to feel like I belonged when I actually entered 'That which shall not be named' and especially when Queenie came to help with my Steam problem, which was a wonderful thing btw. Not to mention the mass downloading of Porn, TV shows that were definitely familiar to me but not to my friends that go to school with me.
But yeah! As a summary of how I felt about it... It was great fun and I'll definitely be attending the next one, regardless what my mother has to say about the LAN. It was a great experience and I'm sure it'll be more fun now that I've got an understanding of what happens at these LANs now, not to mention, knowing some of the people besides the people I came with now.
So yeah, overall I want to thank the people who were on 'That which shall not be named' and the people I got to leech off things and the people who managed Respawn which was a great experience!
- Jenn.
PS : I still hate you Rack 1 + 2. ;x
