Respawn LAN Forums _ General Stuff _ Does anyone use the internet provider called internode

Posted by: GIARUS Mar 1 2010, 07:03 PM

If Yes can you tell me abit about them and how they have been to you an have they been a great internet provider

Posted by: Zantikk Mar 1 2010, 08:27 PM

They did quite well in this 2005 ISP survey;

http://whirlpool.net.au/survey/2005/

Every Internode customer I speak to always seems to be happy with their internet. Though, I have never been with them myself.

sence what you want , kick me out of the forums.... have no power next respawn... see if i care.

just stating a review in 2005 5 years down the track alot of things can change, new management , diffrent views on how the company could be run and implemented.. so y would u base it on a 5 year old review. im sure if u search you would find what people really think of this service today

use whirlpool for a guide they show all the ups and downs of the isp in mention. most are current.

there is a 2009 survey comming out soon,

and a 2008 survey, out of the lot tho seems that iinet, internode, westnet, have the best customer service, and most reliability and performance internode being the highest from the 3 in a quick glance

im asking around cause i might be updating to a diff company

Internode have some free content, including for steam, but they count uploads on a lot of their plans and are worse value for money than others eg TPG. But they used to be awesome in 2005.

Posted by: SirSquidness Mar 4 2010, 01:19 PM

The only plans Internode counts uploads for are the "easy broadband" and "nodemobile" plans, iirc. The rest dont' count uploads, and even have free node<->node traffic.

In exchange for paying twice as much per GB as other ISPs, you get:
- Good reliability
- Good consistent performance + good pings
- Haven't used the customer service because I haven't needed to
- Unlimited free web-radio (most major stations)
- Unlimited Steam! As well as MajorGeeks and SourceForge (handy if you're into Linux)
- Unlimited and fast access to Internode servers for CS, TF2, etc
- A rather good usage meter that updates within a few hours
- Some plans don't count uploads

Overall I'm very happy with them and would gladly pay the extra price for it.

As a current internode customer there are a number of plus+++++

- Their tech support is ONSHORE (in Adelaide)
- They dont screw you around
- Yes their prices are higher but you get what you pay for in my opinion

- Everything wolfmother said.
- I've only spoken to them once, and that was when my internet dropped out 1:30pm today and it turns out that it was an exchange issue following the storms so it was out of their control anyway since im on a telstra dslam not an agile (internode).

If you do the number check and can get on an AGILE PORT, your very lucky!

in comparison to TPG, they are higher dollars and lower download limits. But have alot of freebies like wolfmother said.

I was and still am an Internode customer until 16/03 when I'm going over to TPG to try and save some money so I can move out of my mommies house.

Gyix, im sorry but tpg customer service is the worst and most suckiest piece of dog crap ever. If its a simple problem most people will fix it themselves, but if its something out of there control i.e a problem that isnt with their computer or modem then they dont fail smile.gif Fact: TPG customer service is shit. Also, *throws caylem at you*

When you're taking a call from some customer, you don't care if "they have certificates" or they've "been in the industry for 20 years". All you care about is making sure you don't ignore the troubleshooting steps because they "know what they're doing" but in reality, all they know is that blue cable is called a "network cable".

Assuming the customer knows nothing is better for the customer than letting them convince you that the customer knows everything, even if you do.

...To a point.

If I claim black and blue that a modem is cactus (no lights, ping, no web UI)
and the guy keeps following a script to solve my problem and asks me for the fifth time if i have rebooted it, I get pretty pissed off.

In fact it is good practice to work with your client if he/she has decent technical knowledge, because it usually makes them less angry, and just might get the problem solved quickly.

Let me chime in here and try not to thread clog, bump or anything like that.

I churned to TPG on 16/03/2010...

It was fine until 31/03/2010 when faults started developing, and here's what I've gotten...
- Drop outs
- Sync speed issues
- General speed issues

3pm 4.5mbit from their own download test mirror
11pm 6.6mbit from their own mirror
3am 15.6mbit from their own mirror.

I've changed the modem, I've changed the wiring, I've rewired my house (through a certified technician of course). Short of having deadman deadroll the exchange into submission. I'm out of troubleshooting steps. Its not my network because I take the ethernet cable OUT of the ADSL2+ modem and place it into my Optusnet cable modem, I get a consistent clean speed of 15.5mbit (Even from Christchurch NZ).

They are sending a field technician to test my lines. Because I'm getting slow speeds?

Go figure...

TPG are a pain in the ass. I saved $50 and spent it in phone calls to those useless yobbos!
