People who aren't registered and confirmed may not be guaranteed a spot. Space is of a premium at this event, so keep this in mind guys.

Absolutely. If you want to pay for the space, you're most welcome to take up an extra spot.

It's going to be a big one this time, so if you're keen, best to arrive early. First in, best dressed.

What's with all the weird cat photos online?

I desperately want a cat. I'm moving out at the end of the year, and will finally be allowed to have a pet. Problem being 1) Dogs need a backyard, so are out, 2) I'm allergic to cats.

I was considering getting one of those hairless 'sphyx' cats. Are they too weird? Will people not want to come over because I have a cat that looks like it has some sort of hideous skin desease? I'm moving out alone, and fear I'll be lonely without a companion. I keep tropical fish, but they don't make ideal companions.

*shrug*

PS2 goodness!

I can only play the games that don't require too much dexterity. Whatever happened to the good 'ol platform games with the nice basic controllers?

I think I prefer your more cerebral 'puzzle' type games, in either case. =)

Pleased a PS2 dropped into your lap though Katster. When are you inviting me around to play?

Currently i'm a 'Research Assistant' at The Universtiy of Melbourne in the IP and Communications law department.

Starting as part of the ANZ 2008 graduate program in mid January. That's exciting!

Hi guys,

It's been a while since our last event. Just interested to know what people are up to work/uni-wise?

Anything exciting happening?

I'm currently going through the whole graduate recruitment process, which is exhausting. Otherwise, final year of uni (Law/Economics), and soon to enter the scary *real world* where i have to work full time, and possibly wash my own clothes! *shock horror*

Sweet job Evil Zero!

I'm a full time Law/Economics student, and a part time research assistant at Uni Melb in the Copyright and I.P. department. Not nearly exciting. =(

Thanks for the feedback, guys.

We didn't run any buy-in comps for our major games. Not averted to helping out if gamers want to set up and run their own buy-ins though. I thought NGU's $2 buy in for Wii tennis was great fun. I played, and had a great time. Money well spent! Organisation of the comp itself was also fantastic.

As for the Sunday morning.. heh, i'm at uni summer school ATM, so bailed out around 3am, and was back early, around 9am. I suppose we could get onto organising games through the entire night/morning. It's hard to have admins set up all day Friday and Friday night, run the even from 8am Saturday morning, and still be bright and chirpy at 8am Sunday morning. The Shadow does a top job holding the fort for those few hours in between.

This is an alcohol free event - no one was drinking, especially not admins!

Any further comments/suggestions/constructive criticism?

Hi guys,

Just looking for some feedback on v4, so we know what to work on for future events.

Was there anything that people were particularly fond of, or particularly upset by?

We ummm'd and ahhh'd about trophies a great deal for v4. We didn't realise there was such an interest in them. Now we know, we'll certainly bring them back for v5.

Pleased to hear that people aren't just playing for the $$$'s. =)

Tristan tells me eggs on toast for brekky may well be FTW... *Raises eyebrow* We will have a serious discussion about this tomorrow and decide once and for all, what is the ultimate lanning BBQ item.

Hey hey,

Does anyone play? If so, anyone keen on having some sort of organised comp? We haven't allocated prizes, but winners are grinners (bragging rights!), and losers are... well... losers!

=p

Hi Guys,

Seriously thinking about having hamburgers as a midnight snack, as opposed to the traditional chicken wings. Or perhaps for Sunday brunch. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Just to clarify - we've advertised a $750 prize, and regardless of how many teams enter, that will be what we deliver.

I may be able to organise some sort of seat booking arrangement for you if you PM me, or shoot an email to BeeJay@respawn.com.au.

Very much looking forward to seeing you all there this weekend!

Am I able to make a group booking?

Do you mean to book tables, or to register on behalf of a group of people?

We don't do seat booking as yet, but if yout speak with Zardoz, or The Shadow, they may be able to work something out if you have a CS clan, or something similar.

Since there is krispy kreme in town, id say 1-2 days before lan v4, you should get peoples details etc on this forum (only ones signed up for v4 to prevent fraud) And get us some donut!!!!

or just buy them and sell them laugh.gif

KK's are really only decent on the day - haven't had much luck with keeping them for a day or so. Great idea though! I LOVE donuts! We have a van that services LaTrobe uni on Thursday's at the market. The other option might be that we call them in. Would only be worthwhile if we had some idea of interested numbers though. Will give it some thought, talk with other admins, and see what we come up with.

Probably wouldn't be bad - horses aren't meat eaters, so they might taste pretty decent. Not a lot of tender meat on them i wouldn't think though... maybe a shetland?

I meant a flexi-card style account - now i think of it, tris doesn't have a credit card, and he purchases of Ebay (just a flexi).

Hi guys,

Just noticing a trend towards offering a pay-pal type online ticket purchasing system for LANs. Was curious as to whether people actually thought this was a good idea? I myself am 23 years old, and only just got a credit card last year. I know for a fact that my parental unit would be none too happy about me using thier credit card to make an online transaction... so where does that leave us?

Are there gamers out there with credit cards, or parents that are willing to cough up the goods? I certainly wouldn't think it would be a good replacement for at the door sales completely, that said, if there's sufficient interest, maybe it's worth implementing for those of you who are 18+, or as detailed above, have trusting-net-savvy-parents.

Thoughts?
